Still working.

September 30, 2008 · 1 Comment

Our house is still under construction.  There is so much dust that there is no point in cleaning at night.  It just gets worse the next day.

I also have a misquito bite on my knee that is bugging me.

Here’s the deal:  We had leaking from the morter between the bricks, and the roof for (estimated) 10 years.  Which means the drywall around our windows on the 1st, 2nd. and 3rd floor was moldy and rotting (and any metal, screws, etc was rusting).

So it all needs to be ripped out and replaced.  3 walls.  One on each floor.  Lucky us, the man we hired has decided to do all 3 floors at once, which means there is no safe haven.  Last night we went to the bar.  Hopefully it’ll be done by Friday.  Oh, and we have no TV because it had to be moved and covered, so I’ll be missing the Biggest Loser tonight.  Ugh.

A peek at the registry

September 21, 2008 · 2 Comments

Yes, I know I’m not getting married for (check the knot site) 376 days.

But Crate & Barrel was having a registry party this morning, and I just love champagne at 9am.  So we decided to check it out (it was actually suggested by Brendan).  We arrived and were asked to sign release forms, and then they took photos of us and informed us that they would be used for corporate training.  I’m totally famous.  Here are a few things we picked out.

Parker bowls.

Brendan loves that the only thing I collect takes up a ton of space, right honey?

Love me some cupcakes.

John and Eliza registered for this, too!

You can never have enough cheese.  Or enough domes.

All available at crateandbarrel.com

Engagement Photos!

September 16, 2008 · 2 Comments

We are having engagement photos taken in 5 weeks!  I am so excited-  but now I have to decide where we want them taken.

Here are some examples of photos I like:

All via Weddingbee.

So, suggestions anyone?

Museum Campus?

Hotel Allegro?

James Hotel?

Millenium Park?

I think we should choose one indoor and one outdoor venue.  And I would like to wear a dress for some and jeans for some, but we’ll get to that later.  Where would you get engagement photos taken?

As American as…………

September 15, 2008 · 2 Comments

I made my first practice apple pie today for the Bucktown Apple Pie contest.

It’s tequila apple pie, made with apple tequila.  I used a food processor for the crust and oh my, did it make a

difference.  My hot little hands didn’t make the dough all tough and hard to handle.  It turned out beautiful:

Notice the milk-glass cake plate I got from my future Mother-in-Law in Nashville.  I was eying one at a garage sale and the seller wanted $25 for it, I just couldn’t pay that much.  She surprised me with this one when we got back to her house.  It was in the original box from 1950, a gift that Brendan’s great Uncle and Aunt received for their wedding and never opened.

A few minutes later:
