We looked at new comforters on Saturday at Macy’s. Which one do you like? We decided the “Hotel Collection” was awesome.   I guess we have 8 months to decide.

After Christmas Sales!

January 6, 2009 · Leave a Comment

I wanted these stockings from Target bad during the holidays. I went out the day after Christmas and I could find a B for Brendan and a S for Stanley but no A for Anne. Thankfully, my FMIL found them in Nashville and sent them on over!

I had also been eyeing this wreath- I got it for 50% off!

I also bought a ton of ornaments so I can attempt this look from This Young House next year.

Christmas Decorations

December 24, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I’ve been neglecting the blog.  I’m sorry.  But Christmas with my father and Brendan’s father took up the whole weekend, and then a snowstorm took up all of Sunday, driving back from Michigan.

So here’s a little holiday cheer.

Love those CB2 trees.

Martha told me to cover a bulletin board with wrapping paper and hang my cards on it.  I’ll need a bigger one next year.

I’m not sure how many gifts can fit, but we’ll try.

Merry Christmas and a Happy Holiday to everyone!

Things that suck about Home Renovation

December 15, 2008 · Leave a Comment

renovation

1.  Nothing is ever where it belongs.  Where are the tweezers?  Who knows?

2.  Constant cleaning.  And it’s every night, unless you like dusty cake plates.

3.  The bill.  Oh bill, you make me want to cry.  Who knew we would actually have to pay for this?

4.  Not having people over.  I feel like we’ve become shut-ins.

5.  The pets.  My poor cat is constantly licking dust off of his fur.  Poor baby.

Bad Day #5

December 5, 2008 · 1 Comment

I’ve had a really bad week.

Our furnace broke last night.  It’s fixed now, but I had to stay home from work and it cost almost $400.00

I am so tired of everything.  I need a cupcake.

Going to Paws!

December 2, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Tonight I am going to volunteer at the animal shelter, because I need to stop laying around here and feeling sorry for myself.

Last night we attempted to turn on the heater in the garage, it’s attached to the cieling.  But something just wasn’t right.  The drywall was all wavy  around it and it wouldn’t turn on.  Oh yeah, and it was scorched around the socket.  That’s right folks, it got wet just like the rest of our house!

I cannot explain to you the frustration I feel when my fiance says “maybe it just stopped working”.

“Oh really?  Then why the ceiling is wavy, like it is water damaged?”

“Oh, that’s just how the light makes it look.”

“Then why, when I turn off the lights, does it look the SAME?”

Why can’t he take me seriously?  I am not retarded.  I swear.  The light fixture shows sign of a fire and you think it “just stopped working?”  We could have died!  Scorching is the sign of a fire!

I am so tired of this.  If I shed one more tear over this GD house, I swear.

That’s why I’m going to work at the animal shelter tonight for a kitty overload.

A day in the life

November 19, 2008 · 2 Comments

Saturday

9am:  Wake up

10am:  Discuss going to Home Depot.  Discuss paint color possibilities.

11am:  Go to Home Depot.  Buy paint in “Pure White”,  “Pumpkin Patch” and lint-free rollers.

12noon:  Eat leftover pizza.  Yell at each other about painting.  Yell about getting the paint from the closet.  Get the paint from the closet.

12:30pm:  Start taping.  Yell at each other that their taping skills suck.

1pm:  Have a beer while continuing to tape.

1:30:  Prime wall and trim.

2:00:  Paint orange around trim, but forget that part of the wall isn’t primed or taped.

3:00:  Realize that handyman used a different primer, so the orange now has a squiggle down the middle where the primer changes.

4:00:  Have another beer.  Re-prime.

5:00:  Clean up and out to dinner with Future Father in Law (Early Bird Special).
