19 days till Cabo. Concentrate on the picture.

Deep breath.
Shop Girl asked me how the skin care regime is going. Here’s the verdict. Dermalogica was just okay. For the price, I would rather have something else. It made my eyes sting when I put the eye cream on, and I didn’t love the scent.
I am trying to finish it all off (I only bought a 30-day supply) and I am forcing myself to do so.
Here’s what I bought that I LOVE:

Elizabeth Arden Visible Difference. It is the most amazing face lotion ever. Never greasy, feels fantastic, doesn’t sting, and when I use it at night, it makes my face feel really really plump (for lack of a better word) in the morning. I used to use this (about 4 years ago) during the day, until I realized it had no SPF (eeeekkkkkk!!!!!!!!!!). I have missed using it, so I picked some up about a month ago and Voila! Perfect night cream.
It also costs about 50% less at Costco than in a department store.
I also am still pushing the Wave. I like it so much I bought it for my Dad for Chrismas (He loves the sonicare). I don’t think he has used it yet.

But I love it.

I went to Old Navy and loved this dress:

And these flip flops.

I am waiting for a sale.
I also like this hat from J Crew.
But how do you take it on the plane?

Ahh, back to work. My break was fantastic, except for a slight infection that made me uncomfortable for a few days.
New Years Resolutions:
1. The eye makeup thing. (And I have been sticking to it, even when tired and slightly intoxicated)
2. No Appetizers. I decided this one on NYE and was confronted with a barrage of questions. Yes, I can have an appetizer in lieu of a meal. Yes, I can have an appetizer if we are ONLY having an appetizer and drinks. But no appetizers before I eat dinner! I can never finish both and it’s a waste of calories and money.

3. No McDonalds. For a year. I don’t eat it that often anyway, but I think it would be good to cut it out completely.
What are your New Years Resolutions?
I was talking to Brendan a few days ago, and I mentioned to him that I’m sad that it’s going to be 2009. I don’t want to let go of the year we got engaged. He reminded me that 2009 is the year we get married!

It’s funny how you forget.
This year I got engaged, started my 5th year of teaching, started Graduate School, painted every floor in my house, and underwent a painful home repair and renovation.
I’m so glad you’ve been here to read all about it, and I hope that 2009 is as great for you as I expect it to be for me.
And those of you that are riding the baby train: Congratulations to Melissa, Missy and Amy. You will all be the best mommies a baby could have.
Cheers! See you in 2009!

Every new year, I always say I am going to lose weight. Well, guess what? I’m making a resolution I can stick with this year.
I am going to take care of my eyes.

I go to bed with mascara on. All the time. I love mascara, especially Cover Girl Fantastic Lash. But I hate taking it off.

And lately, I’ve been using Ulta Amped Lashes mascara.

But here’s the real story. I am getting older. I’ll be 28 this year, and I am worried I don’t take care of the skin around my eyes. So this year I promise:
1. I will remove makeup before bed (even when alcohol is involved)
2. I will use an eye cream nightly
3. I will wear sunscreen every day (right now I wear it 90% of the time) SPF 15 minimum
Here is the skin care system recommended to me when i got a facial today. AGE Smart by dermalogica. I’ll let you know if it works!

1. I love Karaoke. Love it. It’s my favorite saturday night activity. I’ve been working on “Love is a Battlefield” lately, and anything country. I seriously have the lungs for country. Carrie Underwood, watch out!
2. I read all of the Phillipa Gregory Books. The Virgin Queen, The Boelyn Inheritance, right now I am reading The Other Queen. What can I say, I’m an Elizabeathan dork.

3. My sister and I have the same birthday, two years apart. Thanks, Mom and Dad! This made for a lot of jealousy growing up, and I never got my own party! But now its nice because I never forget her birthday.
4. My favorite guilty pleasure TV show:

Please don’t tell.
5. In college I was a deejay at the campus radio station. This is where I met Brendan, and he was the Music Director. I hated him! He was always mean to me, and yelled at me about missing up intros, etc. (I wasn’t perfect). Pretty soon, though, we started flirting, and the rest is history!
6. I am a teacher. Yes I am. I teach 150 14-16 year old every day all day. It’s exhausting.
7. After all this wedding planning, every month or so, I wish we had just eloped.

I was mentioning to my fiance on Wednesday night, as we trudged through the snow to Pequod’s pizza, that I really need snow boots. Hey, I’m a Michigan girl at heart.
I went to Famous Footwear and got these by Sporto:

They are so warm! I also had to get another pair, because it was buy one get one half price. I got a pair of Ann Klein I-Flex (I swear by them) pumps. Total for the shopping trip: $95.
On Zappos, the boots alone are $78.50!
